John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle has welcomed news of a £400k investment in to Carlisle’s historic Turkish Baths in James Street.
The Victorian Turkish Baths are a part of Carlisle’s history and have gained strong support locally as leisure facilities are being renewed and invested in around the city.
Mr Stevenson said ‘Leisure facilities in Carlisle are receiving huge investment. The Turkish Baths are a historical asset and of huge interest to local people. It is entirely fitting that Carlisle City Council have announced this investment and I’m delighted that this is yet another project funded through the Government’s Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal. It is fantastic that Carlisle retains and invests in its facilities and attractions. However, It is ultimately up to residents and visitors to make good use of the facilities in order to preserve these for future generations.’
