In 2022 we will celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, giving thanks to Her Majesty the Queen for 70 years of devoted service to the nation and to the Commonwealth.
The Platinum Jubilee will provide opportunities for communities across the country to come together in celebration in the months leading up to a special extended bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022. Details of plans for this weekend have been published on www.royal.uk/platinumjubilee and include The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) and the lighting of beacons across the UK on Thursday 2 June; A Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 3 June; The Platinum Party at the Palace, a live BBC concert on Saturday 4 June; The Big Jubilee Lunch and Platinum Pageant on Sunday 5 June.
Speaking John said, ‘‘This will be a wonderful and unique celebration – the first Platinum Jubilee to be celebrated by a British Monarch. I’m encouraging all constituents and community groups in Carlisle to get involved in this landmark event. Whether that be by participating in the national events listed here or many of the regional events including those potentially planned for Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall or planning events such as street parties and a Big Jubilee Lunch of their own.
More details on local events will undoubtedly follow in the coming months, but in the meantime, we can look forward to a festival of celebration in 2022 with practical opportunities for local people to participate.’’
