The Pension Credit Week of Action is organised by the Department of Work and Pensions and is taking place on 12–16 June. An award of Pension Credit can also open doors to additional help and support – including help with housing costs, council tax, heating bills, a free TV licence for over 75s and, crucially this year, the extra cost of living payments.
As of the end of 2022, there were 1798 households in Carlisle claiming Pension Credit.
Commenting John Said, “Pension Credit provides a vital income for our most vulnerable pensioners and is worth more than £3,500 per year on average. Although take-up is at the highest level since 2010, there is still more we can do to ensure pensioners are not missing out and I am urging everyone of pensionable age to check their availability.
