John Stevenson, MP has been re-elected to the influential all Conservative party 1922 Committee.
The 1922 Committee is made up of a group of Conservative backbench MPs, who meet every week when Parliament is sitting. The committee, collectively, represents the frank and unabridged views of the Conservative Party parliamentary rank and file to the Prime Minister free from the interference of Cabinet Ministers. The committee was established in 1923 and plays an important role in allowing members to air their concerns, report on constituency work and co-ordinate legislative agendas.
John said, “It’s a great honour to have been re-elected to the 1922 Committee. I intend to ensure that the issues that we have, especially in the North, are raised directly with the Prime Minister. As a member of the NRG, I have a strong focus on the levelling up agenda and devolution and I know a number of my northern colleagues share this focus for their own constituencies.”
