To mark the beginning of the Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme, John Stevenson MP visited two restaurants in Carlisle on Monday 3rd August, with the Chairman of Cumbria Tourism, Jim Walker. John and Jim visited Whyte’s Café Bar in Carlyle’s Court and Penny Blue on Warwick Road, who are both participating in the scheme.
The scheme allows customers to gain a 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks, up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner. The offer will be applied to the bill automatically when customers dine in every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 and 31 August 2020 and diners do not need a voucher to claim this discount.
John said: “This scheme is a great opportunity to get the economy up and running again following the Covid-19 pandemic. I hope that Carlisle businesses will see an increase in footfall over the next 4 weeks.
The restaurants and cafes have socially distanced tables and the staff are keeping customers safe by using NHS test and trace and other newly implemented measures. Please do go out and support local restaurants and cafes, if you are able to do so.”
