Carlisle MP, John Stevenson, has written to the Chief Executive of Cumbria County Council after being contacted by a number of concerned constituents regarding the state of the pavements in Carlisle that have been removed and re-laid due to Virgin Media cables being placed underground.
Mr Stevenson said:
“Work to place cabling under the pavement has cracked and chipped numerous paving stones in Carlisle and my constituents are rightly concerned about the danger that these slabs are presenting.
“Virgin Media, Cumbria County Council and DSD Construction have already been contacted regarding this issue, but there has not been an effective response to rectify it.
“I have now contacted Cumbria County Council to ensure that this damage is repaired as soon as possible.”
