John Stevenson MP for Carlisle today met with National Grid to discuss the route of their Cumbrian investment- and local businesses will be used for the project wherever possible.
National grid will invest £1.3 billion into creating a new connection from Moorside.
John said ‘National Grid are making a huge investment in our county. I met with them today to discuss the findings of their consultation regarding the potential route that their new pylons would take.
During our discussion National Grid indicated that where possible, local businesses would be used. This is hugely significant for Cumbria and Carlisle. We have many local construction firms and I am keen that the work that can be done locally is carried out by local businesses and trades people.
I am a supporter of local businesses and I am pleased that a national business such as National Grid has recognised that their large project can and should look to local businesses in Cumbria.’
