This week Carlisle MP, John Stevenson, facilitated a meeting between Lord Agnew, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Schools System, and representatives of Newman School to discuss arrangements for the school’s planned rebuild.
Mr Stevenson has arranged the meeting so that a dialogue between Newman School and the Education and Skills Funding Agency can be established to address issues regarding both the funding and timeline for the transition from the temporary accommodation the school is currently occupying to the new build.
John Stevenson MP said:
“I am pleased that I was able to set up a meeting between Newman School and Lord Agnew so that they could discuss the ways in which the Education and Skills Funding Agency can help support the school.
“It is vital for the future of Newman School that any uncertainties regarding the plans for their new school build can be ironed out, so that the school can look to the future with confidence.
“This meeting demonstrates the dedication of staff at Newman School, who are willing to travel to London to meet with the Minister. I hope that this meeting helps cement a good working relationship between Newman School and the Education and Skills Funding Agency.”
The meeting took place in Parliament on 5th December 2017.
