John Stevenson will be in Carlisle City Centre on Thursday 5th March to promote the strength of the local and national economy.
John has been a keen supporter of strengthening Carlisle’s workforce both in numbers and skills. He has also lobbied Government to make work pay for lower earning households.
John said ‘I am delighted that Carlisle is seeing its lowest number of unemployed since records began. In addition there are more jobs in our City which include double the number of apprenticeships that Carlisle had 5 years ago.
I have campaigned nationally for better pay for those on the lowest wages and a cut to national insurance for businesses who employed those under 21. All of these measures have contributed to a strengthening economy.
These measures have taken hard work both by businesses, government and those who have been successful in gaining employment. However, there is still a great deal to do in order to maintain this economic recovery and indeed to create even more jobs and prosperity in Carlisle.’
John will be in the City Centre from 12:30pm until 1:30pm promoting his vision to further strengthen our local economy under the backdrop of a strengthening national economy.
