MP John Stevenson has visited PHX Training in Carlisle, one of the North West’s largest providers of skills and employment services, as face to face training sessions begin to take place again.
John met with Co-Founder Dan Scott, Managing Director Briony Fawcett and a number of accredited tutors, mentors and learners currently undertaking various skills based courses.
PHX Training is an award-winning training provider that delivers government backed training initiatives including the direct delivery of the Adult Skills Budget, sub contracts for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and the European Social Fund (ESF) as well as schemes such as Kickstart and an Apprenticeship programme.
Currently employing 56 staff across six offices, PHX is working towards increasing their workforce to 80 staff, as demand for courses face to face and remotely, rises.
John said ‘It was great to see first-hand how PHX successfully delivers various training courses from basic Maths and English to an Apprenticeship scheme, with the aim of getting people of all ages the right skills and experience to get into or return to work.
PHX is currently looking to expand the provision for hospitality and tourism based training in line with local employment needs, which is great news for businesses and those looking for training, in the Carlisle area. It was particularly good to see close working with staff from the Carlisle Job Centre, thereby matching skills to jobs available locally.’
