News Article - 20th October 2010 - "Carlisle MP John Stevenson Backs Government Incentive to Cut Red-Tape..."

Red Tape Measure

Carlisle MP John Stevenson is backing a Government incentive which is aimed at cutting red-tape for charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations.

The joint Cabinet Office- Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Task Force on Cutting Red Tape is a commitment in the Cabinet Office Structural Reform Plan. It’s purpose is to investigate and recommend measures to reduce the burden on small organisations which unnecessary bureaucracy can cause. The task force has been created to fulfil the Government’s aim to make it easier to run a charity, social enterprise or voluntary organisation in Britain.

The task force will be chaired by Lord Hodgson who wants to conduct a nationwide consultation on the bureaucracy which such` organisations face.

John said ‘I fully support this consultation. It gives the people who are involved in such organisations a real opportunity to voice their opinion on areas where bureaucracy causes an unnecessary burden for them. I do hope that such organisations from Carlisle participate as their work is invaluable and this consultation is the first step to making it easier for charitable organisations to carry out their work.’

Contributions should be sent by email to red.tape.taskforce@cabinet-office.x.gsi.gov.uk
