Member of Parliament for Carlisle, John Stevenson, is attending the Lakes Alive event ‘We Built this City,’ which is to be held in Carlisle City Centre on 4th June.
Organised by the Polyglot Puppet Theatre Company from Australia, children will be able to construct a structure of any size or shape out of cardboard boxes. The event, which will be in Carlisle until Saturday is part of a larger initiative which is being run by Lakes Alive, with events taking place all over Cumbria.
Speaking from the constituency he said: ‘Lakes Alive have done a fantastic job of arranging these events right across the County. “We Built this City” is a fantastic idea for a family day out. Children need to feel part of the wider community of the city, and activities such as this one are based around not only children but also families.
As well as having fun, children will be advised on construction, by industry professionals and also be encouraged to squash the cardboard to get it ready to recycle.’
