John Stevenson MP continues to support the Government’s growth agenda as it continues to focus its efforts on economic growth and boosting enterprise.

A £82.5 million scheme has been launched this week which will give 18-24 year old entrepreneurs financial support and has the potential to start over 30 thousand new ventures nationwide.

StartUp Loans will provide young people between 18-24 with expert and personal support to help access training and develop a business plan. A robust business plan will allow access to a loan of around £2500, repayable over a 5 year period.

John said ‘I have been a strong supporter of apprenticeships for this age range as by and large an apprenticeship teaches skills and provides training which will hopefully enable people to be more successful in finding employment.

The StartUp Loans provide this age group with another option as they embark upon a career. The scheme supports budding entrepreneurs and provides financial assistance to those with a good idea but no capital to put their business plan into action.

I do hope that young people in Carlisle, who believe that they have a sound business idea, take advantage of this assistance. I look forward to seeing some really innovative companies throughout the city in the future.’
