John Stevenson MP for Carlisle will 'virtually' welcome delegates to the Lyme Disease Action conference.
The conference is taking place at the University of Cumbria, Carlisle on 21st July. Although John will be unable to attend the conference, he has recorded a message to welcome delegates to Carlisle and to encourage those attending to raise the awareness of this disease.
John said "I am delighted that Carlisle has been chosen as the destination to hold this conference. It is important that the profile of Lyme Disease is raised, especially among the medical profession and among those who partake in outdoor sports.
The disease is spread by ticks which are prevalent in our area, particularly in Scotland and the Lake District. The disease can be difficult to detect as symptoms are similar to other illnesses but if caught early can be effectively treated."
