John Stevenson MP for Carlisle supports the recommendation by planning officers at Carlisle City Council to approve a development of student accommodation to be built in Denton Holme.

The townhouses, which are proposed to be built on the old Kangol factory site by Border Construction, will regenerate the site and provide welcome investment into Denton Holme.

John said ‘This development will provide students studying at the University of Cumbria with purpose built student accommodation, creating a stronger identity for Carlisle as a university city.

If approved, the local economy of Denton Holme would be improved through the investment which this development would bring to the area.  The increased trade to local shops once the dwellings were inhabited would benefit businesses located in the area also.

I am in support of the recommendation which has been made by council officers to approve this planning application when it goes before councillors at the planning committee on Friday.’

The application will be heard by the Planning Committee on 16th December.
